When I was an involved artist in New York in the 60's and 70's I learned a lot about art. There was a French artist known as Yves Klein who covered nude female models with bright blue paint and then dragged them around on a blank canvas.

In putting together materials for a multimedia "light show" I started hand painting 2" by 2", 35mm glass slides for Kodak Carousel slide projectors.

I used transparent colored lacquers and discovered that if I abstractly painted one side of the glass slide, I could then press the unpainted glass …

I got into kinetic light art as a result of General Electric introducing "flashing" transparent colored C7 Christmas lights.

One of my first kinetic light sculpture commissions was by Olivia Coqulin, the owner of the first discotheque in New York City, the Cheetah. When I met Mr Coqulin at his establishment, we discussed what he had in mind and then he gave me a tour of the just opened club.

Over the years I have been involved in a lot of "production" work, starting when I was in the U S Navy on Admirals staff in 1961 and continuing on from New York to Florida to New Mexico. I have met some truly amazing performers over the years.
